i've just found out, that cass[my junior] was at maldives the day the tsunami happened. she was on the beach having breakfast with her family that morning. but luckily, she and her family escaped with minor cuts. according to her, the 1st wave knocked over only some tables and chairs. and when the second wave started heading their way, her whole family started running for their lives. they ran out of the resort, all the way to the driveway area, rather far inland. but not many were as lucky as her. she said, she saw a lady's head caught between two yatchs. her body was torn off, elsewhere...where she couldn't see it at all. somewhere out at sea perhaps. also, she saw this young boy playing beachball at shore. being young and ignorant, he knew nothing about running to safety when the second waves were about to hit. his father rushed to carry him. he had 2 childs at hand, trying hard to run away before the waves reach shore. she doesn't know if he they did survive. the scene was too chaotic. but i really really hope they did. may god bless them. and as much of us know from reports, children got swept away by the destructive waves...she saw lots of kids got dragged to sea, away from shore far into the sea. and there was this elderly man, who was in the resort having his breakfast. he was too old to run for his life then, and the end was...gone into the sea...
the people at shore, at resorts had only 5 minutes to get as far inland as they could after the first waves, before the second waves hit. just 5 mins. and that's how long it took to decide your fate. dead or alive. i dunno how many others i know have gone through this horrible experience...i hope those who did, all survived. please. please do...
